Artist Info

Daniel Xiao [pronounced like "Shaw"] is a photographer, web designer and painter. Graphics and images have always been a theme in his life. Ever since he was a child, Daniel Xiao had fun in discovering "art" in unusual places such as leaves on the ground or line patterns on the wall. He had a dream that one day he would become a painter himself.

He explored art first through camera. He purchased his first camera in 1985 and has taken pictures since then. He taught himself HTML in 1995 and has developed numerous web projects and tools. In the early 2000s in Houston Texas , he became acquainted with Mr. Wang, XinSheng, an internationally known artist. His early dream was awakened by observing how Mr. Wang painted. Daniel later became Mr. Wang's student and had studied with him for about two years. Daniel also attended several demos and workshops offered by other artists.

Daniel uses oil and acrylic mediums primarily. Landscape, nature, flowers and people are some of his favorite subject matters. His first original work "The Girl with an Umbrella" was created in 2005, using the impressionistic techniques. This work was overwhelmingly well-received, marking the beginning of Daniel's original works. "Cactus", another original work done in oil and with knife in 2006, was purchased by a well-know private collector.
